They fought in Canada, the same place where SRL won the olympics. |

@donkeydoran
you are too fond of SRL. He clearly lost this fight because he was passive. |

Just watched the whole thing again. On punches landed, which is what its about, Leonard wins. He beats Duran at his own game. Duran couldnt handle Leonard when Leonard decided to fight his own way in the rematch. I love Duran but Sugar Ray was robbed here. |

Duran was 'fighting in his country'?
Canada? |

Look at King. Talk about 'arriving with the champion and leaving with the champion', whoever that may be. |

@judaschongo I have to agree with you on this one also because I didn't see Ray Leonard getting beat like they claimed after watching it again tonight like 25 years later. Duran was fighting in his Country and now It almost seem like Leonard was robbed... |

@3232rams Yeah 3232ram Leonard and Hearns was afraid of Aaron Pryor. Pryor beat Hearns in one of those tournament bouts and he used to beat up on Leonard when he was his sparring partner. I saw the tape, Pryor and Hagler would of been a good one, I think Hagler would of won though. All of these guys beat each other. Hearns, Leonard, Duran and Hagler.. |

Leonard fought a tremendous gutsy fight as well; all this about seeming like a novice or getting murdered the entire fight is nonsense. For those who bring up the point of fighting Duran's fight, or that Leonard should of used his bicycle? don't get the point either. It wouldn't of made any difference; Duran was in optimum shape to fight ANY Leonard and simply wouldn't of been denied! He was 29 and in the prime of his life(outside 135 that is). |

@TheRichmich -Yes one fight in 5 yearsis very inactive and only a great athlete and fighter could pull that off. Just thought you may have overlooked the Howard fight. |

@TheRichmich I know he did, and he somewhat struggled with that fight. He took it on short notice and didn't get much training in for it. For the most part he was still off for the better part of 5 years. And rather or not it was 3 or 5 years, considering Hagler was fighting constantly, it was still quite a feat for Leonard to do what he did rather you think he won or not. Inactivity is a big obstacle to overcome for a pro fighter. Like him or not you can't say he wasn't inactive. |

@bandit7498 - Leonard was only off 3 years when he came back to fight Hagler, he fought Kevin Howard in 1984. |

Heres the bottom line, when Duran and Leonard were at their best, Roberto kicked his arrogant ass. Hagler was robbed in the Leonard fight, which, by the way Ray demanded 12 rounds instead of 15. |

Duran even called Leonard's wife a whore in public. He did everything to get under Leonard's skin. They hate each other with a passion. This was one of the most anticipated fights. You can feel the tension in the ring. |

Leonard admits himself that Duran was poorly conditioned in the rematch. He says he got the rematch scheduled at the time he did so Duran would have to loose a hige amount of weight before the fight and therefore wouldn't be in great condition. I think it is on one of the "Beyond the Glory" docs. I don't think a prime & in shape Duran would loose to a prime Leonard and I'm a leonard fan btw. |

I love duran one of my favorite fighters. But to be honest it was his night. Leonard is a cokehead but he is the better boxer and the rematch showed it. |
